To help clarify questions regarding the new transponders that will be used for the 2012 season, here are postings that VP's Greg Calkins and Becky Wheeler posted on Facebook today.

(Greg)"To get technical: the old transponders had a maximum of 5' read distance while the new ones have a 15-20' read distance. Not to mention that they are cheaper and easier to install. WNYOA will provide a person to install them for maximum effectiveness. No refunds will be given for the old transponders but they can be donated as the Pee Wee Bikes & Quad riders will still be using them. The SHCS transponders will not work with the WNYOA system so a new one must be purchased. Our goal is not to cost everyone money as much as it is to make sure you are scored in the most efficient manner possible."

(Becky)  Yes, we are using new transponders this year that will read better and score easier. There should be much less confusion, especially on the quad end this season!!! You will get the transponder at Dream Riders when you present your membership card. If you sign up at the race for the membership or to day ride, you will pay it then. We chose to include the transponder fee in with the application to hopefully help signup go smoother and quicker so riders arent waiting in line for hours......

The 2012 registration form mentions a $5 fee for a new transponder.  If I have a transponder I used last year in the SCHS, do I have to purchase another transponder?  It is currently programmed with a number that is appropriate in WNYOA's scheme (and I hope to be able to secure that number when I register for WNYOA this year).  Are these transponders able to be reprogrammed, or is there a $5 fee for a new transponder whenever you change numbers?  Can I return my old transponder and receive $10 back as is mentioned on this website under "Transponder System"?
Thanks, Joe LaPlant

If anyone is able to make a contribution of items, gift baskets, gift certificates or anything at all for the silent auction it would be greatly appreciated.  I would just like to say WOW!! What a moving moment at the start of the awards banquet, do not believe there was a dry eye in the room. What a great organization we have, 4000+ dollars raised for the Leonard Family. To the families, friends, and riders of WNYOA, this is what makes us better, and stronger as a series. This is what makes the United States, the greatest Country on earth. We come together, when one of us needs help. I am so proud to be a member of WNYOA!!  Chuck Reed

Had a good time @ the banquet last night. It's so nice to see everyone rally around to support a family in their time of sorrow. Very touching night for all! Nice job to the Jordan boys for all their hard work in designing & making up the Tshirts & donating the proceeds to the Leonard family, which I'm sure is very much appreciated. Nice job done!!!!!!!!!  Debbie VanCamp

I would like to thank everyone that attended the banquet, I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I would like to thank the entire Holiday Inn staff, for all there hard work. Next I would like to thank the vendors, that where able to display there specialties, I think it was great for our rider base to see. I would like to thank every sponsor that donated to our banquet, without you we could not do what we do.I would like to thank all the riders that voted for me again as your Rider Rep. for the 8th year. I will contiue to work hard to get your voice heard, and make our series one of the best series in the country.  I would like to thank all the riders that  stepped up, and put there name in the hat for a Rider Rep. position. I thought this group of candidates was the strongest group to choose from in many years. I would like to congratulate our two newest Rider Reps. Jim Bruce and Pat Lane. It is nice to see some young blood coming forward to volunteer, afterall the other three of us are OLD GUYS. To Rob Sill, Tony Musto, and Bob Johnson, thank you for your dedication to WNYOA, and look forward to see what we can do to get you more involved in our series. I finally would like to say, I have been involved in setting up the Banquet for the last 8 years, and have had the privilege to work with some great people. But I will have to say, I think this years group was the best group yet. There was such a positve attitude throughout the entire weekend, what a great feeling!! I look forward to continueing, this positive, rider oriented atmosphere throughout the entire WNYOA season. Thank you Cindy and Mark Davis, Elaine and Ray Davis, Andy VanCamp, Amy and Jeff Hart, Shawn Wade, Kelly and Rob Sill,Paula Shippey, our new Banquet coordinator, you did a great job, and Linda Drew, without her I could not do, what I do. Thanks to everyone that was involved in handing out trophies, raffle prizes, and everything else that needs to be done on Saturday. Again THANK YOU!! Look forward to seeing everyone real soon at the races in 2012.    CHUCK REED   WNYOA RIDER REPRESENTATIVE

I have a couple of questions regarding the WNYOA schedule being posted in ATV or motorcycle related publications as well as linked to the GNCC racing website. As an avid racer who has subscribed to every available publication over the last 25 years I have rarely if ever noticed our series listed. Several racing series that are far smaller seem to be posted on a regular basis, and it would seem that from a business prospective proper advertising could attract a far larger interest as well as increasing interest from racers that would travel to our events due to the reasonable proximity that most are located in. Concluding, the growth of the series and the obvious financial impact could only strengthen the future of the entire organization. I look forward to seeing more exposure in the future.

Best of luck in 2012 to all racers and organizers

p.s. Everybody please wear your goggles, you only get one set of eyes.

Hey everyone...   I'm hoping to get this posted just to let ya'll know that I've been covering both of the local winter series that are happening - Square Deal Riders and Broome Tioga's.  I know that a lot of you have been racing at one or the other (or both) and that photo's from them are available at my galleries.  Looking forward to the warmer weather so that we can grab WNYOA race series shots again!  In the meantime though -- if you've been racing the cooler weather events then go here --> http://galleries.jdanvers.com/sports

Thanks...  :)
