Jones continues to be the Web Master and is committed to continue upgrading and
improving our web site at (www.WNYOA.net). The web site is available for your use
throughout the year and will have all the current WNYOA information, results,
pictures, WNYOA series standings and links to other sites as well as 2008 series
sponsors. This is WNYOA’s primary communication
link!
We
have three new WNYOA officers for 2008:
§
Vice President – Mark Davis
§
Enduro Points keeper
– Scott Snyder
§
Hare Scramble
Referee – Philip Davis
Hare
Scramble event sign-up will be $10.00 per rider for Mini’s, Pee Wee’s, Youth
Quads and $25.00 for Bike and Quad’s. Day riders will continue to pay an extra
$5.00 for all classes. The gate fee at all events will be $7.00 per person
while everyone 10 years and under will be admitted free. National events are exempt from these fees.
When
you submit your WNYOA 2008 Series Membership application, this will allow you
to participate in either the Hare Scramble series and/or the Enduro series. We
strongly urge you to apply for WNYOA membership early. Prior to April 1, 2008, WNYOA
membership will be $15. Applications postmarked after April 1, the fee will be
$25.00. If you join at any event, it
will cost $50.00. For both hare scrambles and enduros, no WNYOA year end
points will be awarded until you join WNYOA and the dated WNYOA Series
Membership application is on file with the WNYOA secretary. All WNYOA Series
riders and day riders must be a member of AMA/ATVA to participate in a race.
You can call AMA directly at
For
the 2008 Hare Scramble year-end awards, 8 events will be required to be
eligible for a year-end award. Your best 12 Hare
Scramble events will be used to determine final placement. This means you will
have 2 throwaways at any time in the year if you participate in all 14 events
currently on the 2008 WNYOA Schedule of Events.
Year- end “Survivor” Awards will be given again in 2008 to all hare
scramble riders that participate in all 14 hare scramble events. (Working an
event counts as participating in an event).
For the
2008 Enduro year-end awards, you will have 2 throwaways. We will use your best
8 events out of the 10 events on the WNYOA schedule for final WNYOA series
placement. All riders that participate in 7 events will be eligible for a
year-end award. If a rider rode an event and they are not listed on the WNYOA
results, then it is the rider’s responsibility to clarify the problem with
Scott and the event promoter prior to any scoring changes being made.
Each hare scramble promoter will have an
“inspection chute” that a rider will go through to access the starting area.
Each rider will be inspected for transponder operation, working tether switches
for quads, goggles, and full-face helmets and matching rider numbers on the
machine and on their transponder. If your numbers do not all match, you will be
required to correct the problem prior to going to the starting area. If you are
suspected of sound violation (greater than 99db), you will be required to have
your machine sound tested at an area adjacent to the inspection chute. If you
fail the sound test and you are not able to immediately correct the problem you
will not be allowed to participate in the event and will be refunded your entry
fee.
If
you have not already purchased a transponder for hare scrambles, you will be
required to purchase one for $20.00 at your 1st hare scramble event
which is required for real time scoring. Pee Wee and Youth Quad riders will
continue using the current bar codes that will be scanned and will not have
real time scoring available to them. Pee Wee and Youth Quad riders will be
required to pay $2 for their barcodes. Only Pee Wee and Youth Quad riders will be
required to bring their helmets to signup.
However, all riders must have numbers on their machines matching their
correct WNYOA rider number.
In
order to facilitate backup personnel at scoring, new helmet labels will be
issued at no cost to all hare scramble riders except the Pee Wee and Youth Quad
riders. If you do not put the new label on your helmet, you will be required to
return to rider registration to obtain a helmet label prior to going to the
starting line for your race. Also, each rider that has a rider number or class
change for any reason must have his/her transponder reprogrammed at rider
registration.
Course
Cutting will not be tolerated. Anyone that cuts the course and makes no attempt
to return to the track where the course cut took place will be disqualified.
Promoters will ensure that the trails are properly marked.
The
2008 hare scramble event award payback will be as follows:
§
AA Bike and AA
Quad – Minimum of 100% of the rider event fees paid by these riders will be
awarded at one award per 3 riders.
§
All other bike
and quad riders, mini and youth quad – One award per four riders plus one award. Minimum of 1 award per class.
§
All Pee Wee
riders – 100% of the riders will receive an award.
Beginning
in 2009, the Bike AA, Quad AA, Senior Mini A and the SR Pee Wee 7 classes will have rider numbers 1, 2, and 3
reserved for the top 3 riders from the prior year end results. The riders do
not have to take those rider numbers but only those riders will be able to use
those numbers.
Moose
Racing will be sponsoring the WNYOA Enduro and Hare Scramble series again for
2008. All 2007 WNYOA members should have received the requirements that must be
met to actively participate in the program directly from Moose Racing. If you
would like this information, contact Ray Goulet and a Moose Contingency package
will be mailed to you or you can download the Moose Contingency application
from the WNYOA web page. The 2008 Moose program requires that you purchase the
Moose clothing prior to the first
race you participate and that you participate in 80% of the events in the
series (11 hare scramble events or 8 enduro events). For Hare Scrambles, Moose
check-in process will be at the WNYOA registration area. David Barnes will coordinate the WNYOA Moose
check-in process at all enduros.
All
riders that provide a minimum of a 4-week request for working an event will
receive 25 points. If the request is made with
less than 4 weeks advance notice, the work credit will be 20 points. You are
responsible to contact the promoter directly to arrange for working the event.
If a rider works more than one event, they will be given no additional points
but will be given credit in the form of a “0” for that event towards the
required 8-event minimum for a year- end hare scramble award. New
work rule for 2008, if you work an event and there is a tie at year-end,
the rider who worked will break the tie and be given credit for the higher
placement.
Quiet
time at hare scramble events will be 10:00PM.
All promoters will enforce the 10:00 PM quiet time curfew at each hare
scramble event. All generators will be
turned off by 10:00 PM on Saturday and not started before 7:00 AM on
Sunday. Any rider or member of a rider’s
pit crew that is found abusing this quiet time curfew will be disqualified.
Each promoter will post a sign at the event registration area naming a contact
person for all/any emergencies that arise.
The sequence
of classes for 2008 is as follows: There will be NO late rider registrations
accepted after the registration time noted for each class.
